"SYMBIOSES" @GALERIEGISMONDI, 26TH-29TH Sept

We just finished wrapping up the last art piece set to find its new owner/home. Feelings can’t describe accurately how crazy past days have been. Writing this, still in the rush of the moment, it’s all been so intense yet so beautifully fulfilling. The whole staff’s been amazing, professional af and it didn’t feel like ‘working’ one second (each night ended in champagne showers and bursts of laughs, sweat, and tears - of joy). Maria Bernad’s fashion show was mind-blowing. She totally reversed roles, and how a runway/catwalk should (conventionally) look like; here visitors/guests could roam around the Gismondi gallery, and the models were actors of their own plays. More than 1700 ppl showed up on the counter. My artworks all sold out - and the triptych didn’t go unnoticed. We decided to scale it up a notch because the potential of it was simply too big to neglect. Special mentions to Darmo Art for the continued support and opportunities. They say the second time is ‘make or break’ and we showed that we clearly are HERE TO STAY!!!

“News/What’s On?!” featured flagged top position posts

FYI (For Your Information), I just incremented a “News/What’s On?!” tag, purely intended at showcasing the freshest and most up-and-coming news about [RAF REYES™] about Raf (the artist himself), the art, and the brand; while the “Blog” itself aims at regrouping more archival past posts, important pieces of information that needed to be said at certain points in time, yet still being relevant to this day. Thus, you just need to type “news” in the search bar and you’ll be able to see what is happening or set to happen very imminently (events, gallery gigs, important moment in general…).

In a few words/put simply, “News/What’s On?!” tags = ‘present/future’ whereas general “Blog” posts = ‘past’.

Preparing for "Symbioses" @GalerieGismondi

D-2 before the start of the exhibition. All artworks are finally hung. This is just a small portion of the totality (to be exhibited) from the 25th of September to the 29th. I’m really happy with how it all came out, and being now a resident @GalerieGismondi is simply amazing. Pure blessings. I’m particularly happy with “Lezioni Fiorentine”, my first ever triptych, mixing the old (Masaccio) and the new, Raf (in some kind of symbiotic synergy).

RAF REYES' "Quand les fleurs nous sauvent" @LePurgatoire54Paradis

Literally translated to “When flowers save us”. Art fair/floral experience organized by Xfleurs corporation. Spanned from the beginning of June to the end of July 2019. I got invited to Xfleurs’ gig @LePurgatoire54Paradis; in my very own block in Paris! That was one helluva return to roots, where I grew up, surrounded (just a few buildings away) by greatness. Matisse, Nikki de St Phalle, Ori Gersht, Maia Flore etc. were also called on for the show. I made a masterpiece, entitled “Astrofloral” just for the occasion. Here it is, below, with a video accompanying it, explaining my artistic process. Lots of press articles too (see press tab, here).

THE REAL FIGHT

A noble cause supported by my friend from university Arif, speaking out/giving a voice to those who have shut theirs a while ago. did a poster for the mental health/illness prevention event ‘the Real Fight’ organized in Warwick.

Soon after coming up with the poster, Arif curated a pop-up exhibition in Warwick Business School’s premises. Held in 3.003 WBS Create Space (see video below), Arif closed the rooms curtains to shroud the room in darkness (just like mental-health affected people’s minds) and pinned all students’ artworks (including mine - laminated A3 poster) on these curtains (with safety pins).

I came in a bit early (before official opening) so as to help him and get an insider, private premium insight into the weekend exhibit. enjoy!
